"Precious Jewels," holds a special place in the Concordia Choir Series. Composed following the death of two young children, Nicodemus Phipps and Ryan Johnson, in a south Chicago house fire, it speaks tenderly of Jesus coming and gathering in His children for His crown. The source text, by William Orcutt Cushing (alt.) carries biblical weight. Zechariah 9:16 states, "The Lord their God will save them on that day as the flock of His people. They will sparkle in His land like jewels in a crown."
